Arts In Your Eyes, @ The December Arts Café

Friday the 3rd of December was a date on your Advent Calender, that you should have been sure not to have missed!

As well as the Monthly Arts Café, there was another celebration for the hard-working Eden Volunteers! With Joy, and added Merriness, everyone was pleased to welcomed into the warmth of Eden's Core.
Starting off the night, Jelly Jazz started their DJ set with style. To follow on their previous performance at the November Arts Café, they brought the newest music in their most interesting mixes, to set the night a-float.

To follow on their performance, the magnificently different Melosa, who claimed to be a "Ska Machine". As I had never heard "Ska", music before, I must admit- I wasn't quite sure what to expect. As they began their set, they brought an electric atmosphere, and something unique to the stage.

Then to, end the night blissfully, was no other than the high-rising Boxettes, who brought something of an original performance. Featuring Bellatrix, the World-Champion Female Beatboxer, these fiesty young women brought excellence to The Core's steamy stage.
The audience were energetic, positively charged and ready for an exciting night full of Ska, Beatboxing, Origami, and even MC's.

But that's certainly not what the Night itself was all about. It was about expressing different types of art in a different fashion each event. In contrast to the November event, it has shown that the Eden Project are capable of adjusting to whatever's thrown in front of them.

All of the Volunteers that attended Christmas Capers were in awe at the performances in front of their eyes. Everyone had a smile to share with one another, and it was once again a beautiful night, bursting with Diversity.

Although, this has been the second event that I have been to, they have both differed to a wide extent.

My first Arts Café experience was fresh, individuality, and unique. It proved that you don't have to be an X-factor contestant to perform at an awesome Gig, and you don't have stick to things your comfortable doing to have a wicked time.

Where as, my second Arts Café experience was more of a community cohesion, full of festive merriment, and perhaps more relaxed. Both of the events tried hard to grab the attention of the Public- but never in a desperate-for-attention way.

It always proceeds to try hard to bring those who haven't, or wouldn't usually, get to know each other by doing things creatively with each other. Choirs and Poetry slams, A talented Ska band with the eccentric, diverse crowd, and The Eden Project with the up-and-coming Youth of tomorrow.

So, if you had missed this spectacular event, have no fear! The next Arts Café event is on the first friday of the month, starting with our February Arts Café 2011. And with the Line-up not yet announced, Who knows what to expect!
Ticket prices are between £7-10, and you can find out more information from the Official Eden Project website, and the Arts Café Facebook Page!
